PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Nov 12, 2019 -- Chatham (0-1, 0-0) took on their second Penn State branch opponent, Penn State Beaver (0-0, 0-0) on Tuesday, November 12th in their second game of the season. The Cougars were coming off a tough loss at home Saturday, November 9th against Penn State Du Bois.
The Cougars started things off by jumping out to an early 16-9 lead after the first six minutes of the game. Chatham would extend their lead to ten after a jump shot by senior guard Will Sandherr half way through the half. Heading into the half, the Cougars would lead Penn State Beaver 46-32. Sandherr led the Cougars in scoring in the first half with nine points of his own.
Chatham would come storming out of the gates to open the second half, as they would go up by 16 after a three by first year Brandon Lavernia. The Cougars would continue to build on their lead with stellar shooting by junior Malik Potter, who had seven of Chatham's 19 threes for the game. Potter led the Cougars in scoring with 21points, as Chatham would come out on top 92-73 to win their first game of the season.
The Cougars are back on the court this weekend November 15th and 16th as they will travel to Hilbert College in a weekend tournament. Chatham will be back in the den next Wednesday, November 20th against Carlow University.
