PITTSBURGH, Pa. – JANUARY 30th, 2019 – The Chatham University women's basketball team suffered a tough loss versus Grove City tonight, falling 53-51. With the loss, Chatham falls to 10-11 overall, 6-6 PAC. Grove City improves to 12-9 overall, 7-5 PAC.
Three Cougars scored in double figures in Chatham's loss. Senior
Ashley McClain led the team with 20 points. Graduate student
Megan Sieg finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior
Katie Sieg picked up ten points, eight rebounds and three steals. Junior
Sierra Ungerman grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. First-year
Kaitlyn Fertig picked up seven rebounds.
Chatham led 15-13 after the first quarter but by halftime the teams were tied 28-28. Both teams would be tied at 40 points heading into the third quarter. The final ten minutes saw four lead changes. The Cougars took a three point lead with just 02:23 left in the game. At 01:10 Grove City scored to cut the Chatham lead to one point. Unfortunately, the Wolverines would score at 00:54 to give them the lead.
