PITTSBURGH, Pa. – JANUARY 23rd, 2019 – The Chatham University women's basketball team struggled versus Waynesburg this evening, falling 70-59. With the loss, Chatham falls to 9-10 overall, 5-5 PAC. Waynesburg improves to 5-13 overall, 3-7 PAC.
Three Cougars scored in double figures in Chatham's loss. Graduate student
Megan Sieg scored a team-high 20 points, with five assists, two steals and two rebounds. Senior
Katie Sieg put up 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior
Ashley McClain finished with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Senior
Olivia Barkley chipped in six rebounds, five points and two steals. Junior
Sierra Ungerman grabbed five rebounds and three steals. First-year
Kaitlyn Fertig added five rebounds and five points.
The game was a back and forth battle, seeing nine lead changes and seven tied scores. The Cougars converted for 23 points off of 23 Yellow Jacket turnovers. The Chatham defense forced Waynesburg to shoot just 22% from the three point line.
