PITTSBURGH, PA. – Jan. 12, 2019 – The Chatham University women's hockey team defeated Stevenson 4-2 this evening.
RECORDS: The Cougars improve to 5-12-0 overall, 2-8-0 UCHC while Stevenson falls to 5-9-1 overall, 3-6-1 UCHC.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham hosts Neumann next weekend. January 18th is Fill the Rink! Puck drop is set for 7:10 pm at the Frozen Pond Arena.
SCORING SUMMARY: STevenson was first on the board with a power play goal at 12:15 in the first period.
Holly Ackerman scored the first goal for the Cougars at 16:42, thanks to an assist from
Jillian Rowland.
The second period started off with another Stevenson power play goal. The Cougars answered back minutes later with a power play goal of their own.
Sydney Collins netted her second goal of the weekend, assisted by
Kristina Block and
Kerry Carr.
Chatham scored two more goals to secure the victory.
Jillian Rowland scored less than a minute into the period unassisted.
Kirajean Frost added the final goal of the game, thanks to an assist from
Danielle Bos.
GOALTENDING: Devon Strachan earned the victory for the Cougars making 31 saves. Strachan is the current UCHC Goalie of the Week.
SHOTS LEADER: Rowland led the Chatham attack with eight shots on goal.
FACEOFFS: Sydney Collins won seven draws,
Madison Black won five.
