Underwood Scores in Chatham’s 7-1 Loss at Manhattanville

Box Score RYE, N.Y. – Feb. 9, 2018 – First-year forward Kirk Underwood (Littleton, Colo./Connecticut Nighthawks) tallied a first period goal for the Chatham University men's hockey team but the Cougars fell at Manhattanville 7-1 in UCHC action on Friday night.
 
RECORDS: Chatham falls to 1-18-3 (1-13-0 UCHC) while the Valiants improve to 10-7-5 (7-4-2 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will wrap up their five-game road trip at King's tomorrow at 7 pm at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, Pa.
 
Chatham will then close out the regular season by hosting Elmira and Bryn Athyn from Feb. 16-17 at Frozen Pond Arena.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: The Valiants went ahead 5-0 in the first before Underwood found the back of the net to ruin the shutout, thanks to assists from sophomore forward Jace Burton (Aurora, Ill./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) and junior netminder Trever Ralph (Red Bank, N.J./New Jersey Jr. Titans).
 
Manhattanville tallied a goal in the second and third periods, respectively.
 
GOALTENDING: Senior Morgan Hudson (Ottawa, Ont./Port Colborne) earned the start and suffered the defeat, making 10 stops. Ralph came off the bench and made 22 saves, including 14 in the second.
 
SHOTS LEADER: First-year forward Daniel Cangelosi (Rockaway, N.J./New England Wolves) led the Cougars with five shots.
 
FACEOFFS: Cangelosi also led the way in this category with six faceoff wins.
