Sydney Collins (Wake Forest, N.C./Northwood Prep) scored for the Chatham University women's hockey team on Saturday as the Cougars defeated host Lebanon Valley 2-1.
RECORDS: Chatham improves to 6-14-2 (3-12-0 UCHC) while Lebanon Valley falls to 2-18-2 (1-13-1 UCHC).
WHAT'S NEXT: Both teams will conclude the weekend series and the regular season with a contest starting at 2 pm.
SCORING SUMMARY: After a scoreless first period, Block scored 17:51 into the second session, thanks to an assist by first-year defender
Danielle Bos (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Buffalo Bison), to give Chatham a 1-0 lead.
At 2:54 in the third, Collins found the back of the net, off helpers from Bos and Block. The Flying Dutchmen crept to within one, 2-1, with under four minutes remaining in the game.
GOALTENDING: Sophomore netminder
Devon Strachan (West Chester, Pa./Lawrenceville) tallied 17 saves in the victory.
SHOTS LEADER: Senior defender
Kasandra Petersen ripped off 12 shots to pace the Cougar attack.
FACEOFFS: Senior forward
Cassidy Colhoun (Kincardine, Ont./Saugeen-Mailland Lightning) won a game-high 20 draws.
