Ryan Scores in Chatham’s 5-1 Loss to Elmira

PITTSBURGH, PA – Feb. 16, 2018 – Junior defenseman John Ryan (Wake Forest, N.C./Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights) tallied the lone goal for the Chatham University men's hockey team on Friday night as the Cougars fell to visiting Elmira 5-1 at Frozen Pond Arena.

RECORDS: Chatham drops to 2-19-3 (2-14-0 UCHC) while Elmira improves to 13-8-3 (8-4-3 UCHC).

WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will host Bryn Athyn in a non-conference contest at 7:20 tomorrow night.

The team will honor senior netminder Morgan Hudson (Ottawa, Ont./Port Colborne) for playing his final collegiate game.

SCORING SUMMARY: The Soaring Eagles scored just 1:26 into the game to put the Cougars in a 1-0 deficit.

In the second,  Ryan blasted a shot from the point thanks to an assist by sophomore forward Clay Plyler (Pittsburgh, Pa./New England Wolves) to knot the contest up at 1-1. However, an untimely major penalty later in the period resulted in four consecutive Elmira goals as the Soaring Eagles went ahead 5-1. 

GOALTENDING: Hudson played well in net despite giving up the five goals, making 31 total saves, including 14 stops in the third.
 
SHOTS LEADER: First-year forward Daniel Cangelosi (Rockaway, N.J./New England Wolves) led the Chatham attack with five shots.
 
FACEOFFS: First-year forward Chad Bell (Port McNeill, B.C./Nanaimo Buccaneers) won a game-high 10 draws.
