Burton Scores Twice in Chatham’s 4-2 Win at King’s

Box Score PITTSTON, PA – Feb. 10, 2018 – Sophomore forward Jace Burton (Aurora, Ill./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) scored twice to lift the Chatham University men's hockey team to a 4-2 victory at King's College on Saturday evening.
 
RECORDS: Chatham moves to 2-18-3 (2-13-0 UCHC) while the Monarchs fall to 0-23-0 (0-14-0 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will close out the regular season by hosting UCHC foe Elmira and non-conference opponent Bryn Athyn from Feb. 16-17 at Frozen Pond Arena.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: Following a scoreless first period, King's opened the second by going ahead 1-0 on a power-play goal.
 
Burton found the back of the net at 15:18 of the second, thanks to assists from sophomore forward Clay Plyler (Pittsburgh, Pa./New England Wolves) and first-year forward Kirk Underwood (Littleton, Colo./Connecticut Nighthawks), to knot the contest at 1-1.
 
For his second of the game and seventh of the season, Burton enjoyed a power-play goal at 16:33 of the second, assisted by Underwood and first-year forward Cory King (Albuquerque, N.M./Oklahoma City Blazers), to hand Chatham a 2-1 edge.
 
In the third, first-year defenseman Noah Medalsy (Montreal, Que./Blind River Beavers) handed the Cougars a 3-1 advantage, off feeds from first-year forwards Kevin Fees (Findlay, Ohio/Wichita Falls) and Chris Lutz (Curtice, Ohio/Soo Eagles).
 
The Monarchs made it a 3-2 game before first-year forward Derek Schrank (Traverse City, Mich./Richmond Generals) iced the contest with an empty net goal to give Chatham the 4-2 win.
 
GOALTENDING: First-year Matt Calas (Mississauga, Ont./Ancaster Avalanche) picked up his second win against King's this season, making 27 stops in net.
 
SHOTS LEADER: King led the Chatham attack with seven shots.
 
FACEOFFS: First-year forward Daniel Cangelosi (Rockaway, N.J./New England Wolves) won a team-best nine draws.
