Chatham drops 74-64 decision at Allegheny

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – NOVEMBER 17th, 2018 – The Cougars dropped a 74-64 decision to the Gators this evening in the final game of the Greg Richards '08 Memorial Classic. The Cougars move to 3-1, while the Allegheny improves to 2-0. 

Isaiah Brown led three Cougars in double digit scoring with a game-high 22 points while Will Sandherr added 19 points, and Marc Wells chipped in 10 points. Wells notched a team-high nine rebounds, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Brown recorded seven rebounds and two steals on the night. Sandherr earned four rebounds and two assists. Anthony Bomar led the team with four assists and three steals. 

Chatham controlled the pace of the game early on. The largest Cougar lead came with six minutes remaining in the first half. Chatham held a 30-28 lead over Allegheny after the first 20 minutes. Despite 15 and 14 points from Sandherr and Brown respectively in the second half, the Gators ultimately secured the victory. The final 20 minutes saw three lead changes and three tied scores. 

For the game, Chatham shot 39%. The Cougar defense held the Gators to a shooting percentage of 26% from beyond the arc, while forcing 13 turnovers. The teams were matched with 35 rebounds each.
