Cougars open up 2018-19 season in Minnesota

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Oct. 26, 2018 – The Chatham University women's hockey squad loses 5-1 to Saint Benedict in both teams first game on Friday in Blaine, Minnesota.
 
RECORDS: The Cougars move to 0-1 on the year while Saint Benedict moves to 1-0.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will remain away and play Blaine on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 6pm in Blaine, Minnesota.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: In the first period, the Cougars got on the board, with the only goal of the game, as senior captain KiraJean Frost (Harvard, Ma./Boston Shamrocks) found the back of the net.


In the first period, Saint Benedict scored three goals, one in the second and one in the third.
 
SHOTS LEADERS: Senior defenseman Jillian Rowland (St. Louis, Mo./Chicago Fury) led the Chatham attack with seven shots.
 
GOALTENDING: Freshman Katy Reed (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Lady Cyclones) suffered the defeat, making 16 saves for Chatham, including 13 in the first period. Junior netminder Devon Strachan (Philadelphia, Pa./Lawrenceville School) substituted in for Reed minutes into the third period, making 24 saves for Chatham, including 13 in the second period.
 
FACEOFFS: Junior captain Madison Black (Wexford, Pa./Pittsburgh Elite) won a game-high 15 draws for Chatham.
