Cassidy Colhoun (Kincardine, Ont./Saugeen-Mailland Lightning) tallied a short-handed goal for the Chatham University women's hockey team but the Cougars fell 2-1 at Trine University on Friday night in non-conference action.
RECORDS: The Cougars fall to 3-8-1 overall while the Thunder move to 2-8-0 on the year.
WHAT'S NEXT: Both teams will complete the weekend series tomorrow, with the puck dropping at 2 pm.
SCORING SUMMARY: Both teams were held scoreless in the first two periods before Trine scored the opening goal a little over seven minutes into the third to put the Cougars down 1-0.
Colhoun then came through with a short-handed goal for the equalizer at 10:42. Unfortunately, the Thunder went ahead two minutes later to reclaim the lead.
GOALTENDING: Sophomore netminder
Devon Strachan (West Chester, Pa./Lawrenceville) suffered the defeat, making 35 stops in between the pipes.
SHOTS LEADER: Colhoun, first-year forward
Sydney Collins (Wake Forest, N.C./Northwood Prep) and senior forward
Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y./Buffalo Stars) all tallied four shots to lead the Cougar attack.
FACEOFFS: Colhoun won a game-high 13 draws for Chatham.
