McClain scores 23 points in Cougars loss to Yellow Jackets

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA. – JANUARY 3rd, 2018 – Chatham fell in the final quarter to Waynesburg 81-78 in the first game of 2018.  
 
KEY COUGARS: Ashley McClain led the team in scoring with 23 points. McClain shot 5-7 from beyond the arc and 9-15 overall. She added six rebounds and three assists. Brittani Smith scored a season high 20 points shooting 2-3 for three pointers and 8-9 from the free throw line. Smith added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Katie Sieg totaled 16 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. Olivia Barkley tallied seven points, six rebounds, and two assists. Sierra Ungerman led the team in rebounds with eight.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The game was back and forth with 14 lead changes and eight tied scores. In the first half Chatham shot 52% from the field and 75% from beyond the arc. The team had 21 points off of 14 forced Yellow Jacket turnovers. The bench added 24 points for the Cougars. Chatham scored 11 points off of 11 offensive rebounds.  
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham travels to Washington, Pa. to take on the Presidents of W&J at 1 pm on January 6th.
