Petersen Becomes All-Time Scoring Leader in 5-2 Loss at Neumann

Box Score ASTON, PA. – Jan. 26, 2018 – Senior defender Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Minnesota Blades) became the all-time leader in points and assists in Chatham University women's hockey program history on Friday evening but the Cougars fell at Neumann 5-2 in UCHC action.
 
RECORDS: Chatham falls to 3-13-2 (0-11-0 UCHC) while Neumann improves to 10-5-2 (8-2-1 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Both teams will conclude the weekend series tomorrow at 2 pm. The Cougars will then host King's on Feb. 2-3 at Alpha Ice Complex.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: Following a Neumann goal at 13:43 in the first, sophomore forward Holly Ackerman (East Rockaway, N.Y./Brewster Academy) tied the game up at 1-1 less than a minute later, thanks to assists by Petersen and first-year forward Dahea Chung (Centreville, Va./Reston Raiders).
 
For Petersen, she now has 21 career goals and 31 career assists for 52 points, breaking Erika Bronk's mark of 51 points and Erika Martin's record of 30 helpers to be the leader in both categories.
 
The Knights scored once more in the first to go ahead 2-1 and early in the second period to take a 3-1 edge. With five minutes left in the second session, junior forward Kirajean Frost (Harvard, Mass./Boston Shamrocks) found the back of the net, thanks to an assist from junior forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy), to move the Cougars within one, 3-2. However, Neumann went on to score twice more to wrap up the contest.
 
GOALTENDING: Sophomore Devon Strachan (West Chester, Pa./Lawerenceville) suffered the defeat, making 29 stops in net.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Frost and first-year forward Sydney Collins (Wake Forest, N.C./Northwood Prep) led the Chatham attack with four shots.
 
FACEOFFS: Frost collected 16 draws for the Cougars.
