Frost Scores in Tough 2-1 Loss to Stevenson

PITTSBURGH, PA – Jan. 20, 2018 – Junior forward Kirajean Frost (Harvard, Mass./Boston Shamrocks) tallied the lone Cougar goal on Saturday as the Chatham University women's hockey team fell to Stevenson 2-1 in UCHC action at Alpha Ice Complex.
 
RECORDS: With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-12-2 (0-10-0 UCHC) while the Mustangs improve to 7-7-3 (4-3-1 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will travel to Aston, Pa. to take on Neumann in conference play on Jan. 26-27.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: Following scoreless first and second periods, the Mustangs found the back of the net 7:27 into the third period to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Frost then answered just 11 ticks later, thanks to an assist from junior forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy), to knot the contest at 1-1. However, Stevenson reclaimed the lead with a little over three minutes to play.
 
GOALTENDING: Sophomore netminder Devon Strachan (West Chester, Pa./Lawrenceville) suffered the loss but stood on her head all afternoon, making a career-high 51 saves, including 20 stops in the third period.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Senior forward Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y./Buffalo Stars) led the Chatham offense with six shots, including five in the second period.
 
FACEOFFS: Sophomore forward Madison Black (Wexford, Pa./Pens Elite) won a team-high 11 draws for the Cougars.
