Petersen Enjoys Power Play Goal in 4-1 Loss to Stevenson

PITTSBURGH, PA – Jan. 19, 2018 – Senior defender Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Minnesota Blades) tacked on a power-play goal but the Chatham University women's hockey team fell to visiting Stevenson 4-1 at Alpha Ice Complex on Friday night.
 
RECORDS: The Cougars drop to 3-11-2, 0-9-0 UCHC while the Mustangs improve to 6-7-3, 3-3-1 UCHC.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will host Stevenson tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 pm.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: Following a scoreless first period, Stevenson went ahead 2-0 midway through the third period.
 
Petersen brought the Cougars within one, 2-1, thanks to an assist from junior forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy), at 11:27 in the third on the man advantage. Unfortunately, the Mustangs found the back of the net twice more.
 
GOALTENDING: Sophomore Devon Strachan (West Chester, Pa./Lawrenceville) suffered the defeat, making 36 stops, including 15 saves in the second period alone.
 
SHOTS LEADER: First-year forward Sydney Collins (Wake Forest, N.C./Northwood Prep) led the Chatham attack with five shots.
 
FACEOFFS: Sophomore forward Madison Black (Wexford, Pa./Pens Elite) led the team with 11 victories in the circle.
