Frost & Petersen Collect Goals in 7-2 Defeat at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Jan. 12, 2018 – Both junior forward Kirajean Frost (Harvard, Mass./Boston Shamrocks) and senior defender Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Minnesota Blades) tallied goals for the Chatham women's hockey team on Friday night, but the Cougars fell at Manhattanville 7-2 in UCHC action.
 
RECORDS: Chatham falls to 3-9-2 (0-7-0 UCHC) while the Manhattanville Valiants improve to 6-5-1 (3-2-0 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Both teams will conclude the weekend series tomorrow at 3 pm. Chatham will then get set to host Stevenson from Jan. 19-20.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: Manhattanville claimed a 2-0 lead after one period of play before Frost broke through the scoring column just 58 ticks into the second session, thanks to assists from Petersen and first-year forward Dahea Chung (Centreville, Va./Reston Raiders), to bring the Cougars within one, 2-1.

For Petersen, the helper was the 30th assist of her career as well as her 50th career point, tying her with Erika Bronk for most assists all-time in program history.
 
The Valiants scored four unanswered goals to take a commanding 6-1 lead before Petersen enjoyed a power-play score, off feeds from senior forward Cassidy Colhoun (Kincardine, Ont./Saugeen-Mailland Lightning) and first-year forward Sydney Collins (Wake Forest, N.C./Northwood Prep), to make it a 6-2 contest at 9:37 in the third. The host team tallied one more marker to wrap up the scoring.
 
GOALTENDING: Senior goaltender Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, Ont./Thunder Bay Queens) made 30 stops in net while suffering the loss.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Petersen, junior forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) and senior forward Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y./Buffalo Stars) all tallied five shots for Chatham.
 
FACEOFFS: Colhoun finished 10-of-13 in the faceoff circle.
