Chatham blanks Muskingum for the first win of the season

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – SEPTEMBER 3rd, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars blank Muskingum 2-0 for the first win of the season.

How it happened                                                           
  • The Cougars outshot the Fighting Muskies 29-4.
  • Senior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the team in shots with six.
  • Junior Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison) and first year Darby Robinson (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) each tabbed four shots.
  • Sophomore Victoria Vernail (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) and junior Anne Radzanowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) took three shots apiece.
  • Bruening scored the first goal for Chatham going 1v1 with the goalie at 39:56.
  • Sieg netted another goal for the Cougars at 47:32 off a shot from the end line past the keeper.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Ashley Bergman (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was in the net for the entire game for the Cougars. She recorded her first collegiate career shutout.
  • Chatham's defensive line was strong this afternoon, allowing zero shots on goal.
 
Coach's Comments
  • "We learned some important things about ourselves on Friday and it was great to see the team come out today and play a much more composed game," Head Coach Betsy Warren.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
