Chatham takes first PAC game of the season blanking Westminster 2-0

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – SEPTEMBER 29th, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars took the first conference game of the season blanking the Westminster Titans 2-0.
                                                     
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (7-2 overall, 1-0 PAC) Westminster (5-5 overall, 0-1 PAC)
  • Location: Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.  
  • Attendance: 200 fans came out for the Friday Night Lights match up
 
How it happened
  • Junior Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison) was first to score for the Cougars with an unassisted goal just four minutes into the game.
  • Bruening would later assist sophomore Victoria Vernail (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) with the second goal of the night at 35:52.
  • The Cougars took seven shots on goal compared to the Titans one.
  • First Year Darby Robinson (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) led the team with four shots.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Ashley Bergman (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was in the net for the Cougars. She made one save with zero goals against.
  • Chatham's strong defensive line only allowed one shot on goal.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
