Cougars Shutout Barons

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – SEPTEMBER 20th, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars shutout the Franciscan Barons 3-0 to improve to a 6-1 record.
 
The Basics

  • Location: Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.  
 
How it happened
  • Sophomore Emily Nolan (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) scored the first goal of the game at 33:37 when she dribbled passed the defense and went 1v1 with the keeper.
  • At the half, Chatham outshot Franciscan 6-1.
  • 15 minutes into the second half, first year Kelly Gay (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) scored off an assist from first year Darby Robinson (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) and sophomore Tina Lett (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland).
  • Gay would tab her second goal of the game at 78:28 assisted by junior Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison).
  • Nolan, Bruening, Gay and junior Anne Radzanowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) all tabbed two shots each.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Ashley Bergman (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was in the net for the Cougars. She made one save with zero goals against for her second shutout of the year.
  • Franciscan was only able to get one shot all game thanks to the Cougars defense.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
