Cougars Down Bethany 74-61, move on to quarterfinals

Box Score BETHANY, W. Va. – FEBRUARY 20TH, 2017 – The seventh-seeded Chatham Cougars downed sixth-seeded Bethany College 74-61 at Hummel Fieldhouse this evening to advance to the quarterfinals of the PAC Championship Tournament.

Key Players
  • Senior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) led the team in scoring with 22 points. Hinkle recorded 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. She went 7-11 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line. Hinkle's 22 points tied her career high points in a game.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished with 19 points, five rebounds and two assists.
  • Sophomore Natalie Knab (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) drained four perfectly timed three-pointers to help give Chatham the win.
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) tabbed ten points and four assists.
 
Inside the numbers
  • The Cougars stunned the Bison with an 8-2 run to open the game.
  • Bethany answered back to end the first quarter with a 19-14 lead.
  • With under three minutes left in the third quarter, the Cougars gained the lead and held it headed into the final quarter.
  • Chatham would go on a ten point run with just over six minutes remaining in the game and never look back.
  • The Cougars shot an impressive 57% in the second half.
  • Chatham earned 15 points off of 14 forced Bethany turnovers.
  • The bench tallied 18 points for the team.
 
Up next
  • In Wednesday's quarterfinals, seventh-seeded Chatham will travel to third-seeded Saint Vincent, tipoff is slated for 7 pm. Just a reminder, admission to all PAC Championship Tournament contests is $5 for adults and $2 for students.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
