Cougars honor four seniors, fall in season finale 5-1

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – FEBRUARY 18th, 2016 – For the final time in the 2016-17 campaign, the Cougars took to the ice. Unfortunately, the Cougars were unable to finish the season with a victory, falling to the Neumann Knights 5-1.   
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (2-15-1 ECAC West, 7-17-1 overall) Neumann (3-12-3 ECAC West, 7-14-3 overall)
  • Location: Alpha Ice Complex (Pittsburgh, PA).
 
How it happened
  • Chatham began the afternoon honoring four seniors: Kaitlyn Perrins, Erika Martin, McKenzie Haskins and Jenny Jones.
  • In the first period, the Cougars played exceptionally well, outshooting the Knights 13-11, whiling winning 13 of 16 draws.
  • In the second period, the Knights took over scoring three goals.
  • Neumann added two more goals in the third, however the Cougars found the back of the net on a 5-on-3 power-play. Kasandra Petersen notched her second goal of the weekend, assisted by Jenny Jones and Cassidy Colhoun.
  • Martin finished her career as the all-time leading goal scorer with 26 and the all-time point leader with 51. Perrins finished her career as the all-time leading point scorer for defenseman with 36.   
 
In the goal
  • Junior goalie Sydney Isbell faced 35 shots, saving 30 on the afternoon.
Up next
  • The Cougars season and time in the ECAC West has come to an end and will now prepare for the inaugural season of its new conference in 2017-18, the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC).

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
