Chatham Takes Down Geneva on Senior Day 82-52

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 11TH, 2017 – Chatham dominated Geneva beating the Golden Tornadoes 82-52. Today was Senior Day where three graduating Cougars were honored.     
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (11-11 overall, 6-10 PAC) Geneva (4-20 overall, 1-16 PAC)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
Key Players
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points. She went 7-7 from the field, 3-3 from beyond the arc. Sieg added five assists.
  • Senior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) finished the game with 15 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. She went 7-9 from the field with two assists.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) totaled 14 points with eight rebounds and five rebounds.
  • Senior Nikki Ingel (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) chipped in nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. She shot 75% from three point land.  
 
Inside the numbers
  • The Cougars shot 53% from the field.
  • They scored 17 points off of 14 forced Golden Tornado turnovers.
  • Chatham was up 38-16 at the half and would continue to dominate Geneva.
  • The Cougars outrebounded the Golden Tornadoes an impressive 50-17.
  • Chatham would score 15 points off of offensive rebounding.
  • The bench added 39 points for the team.
  
Senior Spotlights
  • First, four year guard Dana Eastman, was escorted by her parents Patrick and Karen Eastman. Dana is from Murrysville, Pa. She has played in 93 games in her career. She earned her career high 14 points in a game at Westminster on February 8th 2014. She has totaled 255 points, 100 rebounds and 21 steals in her time as a Cougar. After graduation, Dana will be pursuing a career in pharmaceutical and medical device sales.
  • Next we have three year guard Nikki Ingel, who was escorted by her parents Jeff and Renee Ingel. Nikki is from Irwin, Pa. In her time at Chatham she played 73 games, starting 32 of them. She earned her career high 19 points against Geneva on February 14th 2015. Nikki accumulated 347 points, 169 rebounds, 53 steals and 15 blocked shots while at Chatham. After graduation, her plans are to attend physical therapy school at Duke University.
  • Lastly, we have four year forward Jesse Hinkle, escorted by her sister Lindsey and her parents Rick and Leslee Hinkle. Jesse is from Jefferson Hills, Pa. She leaves Chatham as the All-Time Record Holder for Rebounds in a Career with 751, the Record for Rebounds in a Season with 239, and the Record for Rebounds in a Single Game with 16. Jesse played in 96 games, starting 80. She totaled 763 points, 751 rebounds, 99 assists, 91 steals and 46 blocked shots. Hinkle led the Cougars in rebounding all four years. She scored her career high 22 points at Pitt Greensburg on November 24th 2015. She pulled down her career high 16 rebounds at Westminster on February 8th 2014. After graduation, Jesse will complete her final year in Chatham's occupational therapy program and earn her masters of OT next spring. Jesse has aspirations to be a military OT or work in pediatrics.

About Chatham Athletics 
Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. The athletic program is housed on Chatham's historic and beautiful Shadyside Campus in the $18 million, 74,000 square foot Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC). Women's sports at Chatham include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track & field, and volleyball. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
