Cougars win again at home

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 11th, 2017 – A strong start by the Cougars was too much for the Golden Tornadoes as they defeated Geneva 71-69.

  • Records: Chatham (10-13, 6-10 PAC) Geneva (9-14, 6-10 PAC)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
Key Players
  • Sophomore Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) led the Cougars in scoring with 21 points. Schoppen went 7-11 from the field with five threes. For this year, Schoppen is 18-24 from beyond the arc against Geneva.  
  • Sophomore Isaiah Brown (Scott, Ark./North Pulaski) finished the game with 18 points and three assists.
  • Sophomore Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) tallied 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
  • Sophomore Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) and sophomore Josh Randall (Mckees Rock, Pa./Montour) each contributed in seven points.
  • Sophomore Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led the team with eight rebounds and nine assists.     
 
Inside the numbers
  • Chatham controlled the pace of the game by forcing Geneva to turnover the ball 15 times which resulted the Cougars to cash in ten points off of.  
  • The Cougars protected the ball with nine turnovers to Geneva's 15.
  • Chatham's strong defense in the second half forced Geneva to shoot 0-4 from the three point line.
  • As a team, Chatham shot 70% in the second half from beyond the arc which helped solidify the win.
 
Up next
  • Chatham will host Bethany College in a grudge match after previously losing by three points at their house.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
