Lutz & Burton Score in Men's Hockey 5-2 Loss to Manhattanville

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Dec. 8, 2017 – Despite being tied at 2-2 in the third period, the Chatham University men's hockey team fell to visiting Manhattanville 5-2 in UCHC action on Friday night at Frozen Pond Arena.
 
RECORDS: Chatham drops to 0-7-2, 0-6-0 UCHC while the Valiants improve to 4-4-2, 3-3-0 UCHC.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will host conference opponent King's (0-11-0, 0-7-0 UCHC) tomorrow at 7:20 pm while Manhattanville travels to Lebanon Valley at 5 pm.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: The Valiants scored a power play goal to put Chatham in an early 1-0 hole before first-year forward Chris Lutz (Curtice, Ohio/Soo Eagles) took a feed from sophomore forward Clay Plyler (Pittsburgh, Pa./New England Wolves) to knot the contest at 1-1 at 11:21 in the first.
 
Following another Manhattanville goal, the Cougars enjoyed the equalizer at 2-2 as sophomore forward Jace Burton (Aurora, Ill./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) found the back of the net off dishes from Lutz and Plyler.
 
The Valiants took a 3-2 lead in the third and tacked on two more scores, including a short-handed tally, to hand the Cougars the tough home defeat.
 
GOALTENDING: Junior netminder Trever Ralph (Red Bank, N.J./New Jersey Titans) suffered the loss, making 29 stops, including 15 saves in the second.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Plyler led the Chatham attack with four shots.
 
FACEOFFS: Lutz led the way with seven faceoff wins while first-year forwards Eric Hildebrand (Robbinsville, N.J./East Coast Wizards) and Daniel Cangelosi (Rockaway, N.J./New England Wolves) both won six.
