WORCESTER, MASS. – Nov. 26, 2017 – The Chatham University women's hockey team held off Becker College 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep.
RECORDS: The Cougars improve to 3-5 overall while the Hawks drop to 1-6-2.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will host UCHC opponent and No. 3 Elmira at Alpha Ice Complex on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 1-2.
SCORING SUMMARY: Nearly six minutes into the first period, junior forward
Kirajean Frost (Harvard, Mass./Boston Shamrocks) found the back of the net off assists from first-year forward
Madison Black (Wexford, Pa./Pens Elite) and senior defender
Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Minnesota Blades) to give the Cougars the early 1-0 advantage.
Later in the first, sophomore forward
Holly Ackerman (East Rockaway, N.Y./Brewster Academy) notched a goal at 12:36 off another assist from Petersen to hand Chatham a 2-0 cushion.
For Petersen, she now has 29 career assists and is one shy of tying Erika Bronk's program mark of 30 career helpers.
Becker tallied a goal in the third but the Cougars held off the Hawks to complete the weekend series.
GOALTENDING: Senior netminder
Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, Ont./Thunder Bay Queens) earned the victory, making 18 stops in between the pipes.
SHOTS: Chatham outshot the Hawks 57-19 as Petersen and senior defender
Emma McFarlane (Ottawa, Ont./Perth Predators) both tallied 11 shots apiece.
