Cougars Enjoy 2-0 Night at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Oct. 4, 2017 – The Chatham University women's volleyball team enjoyed a 2-0 night on Wednesday, defeating host and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva in come-from-behind fashion, 3-2, before taking a 3-1 win over Franciscan.
 
RECORDS: Chatham improves to 9-8, 2-8 PAC while Geneva falls to 6-15, 5-3 PAC and Franciscan at 4-11.

DID YOU KNOW?: Chatham's nine victories so far this year amass 2016's total of eight and are the most wins for the program since 2004, when the Cougars went 24-8.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Capital (9-12 overall) on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 pm.
 
GENEVA COMEBACK: After dropping the first two sets to the host Golden Tornadoes, the Cougars rallied and stormed back with a 3-2 conference victory.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Justyne Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) exploded for a match-high 22 kills and provided 19 digs, three total blocks and two aces.
 
First-year middle blocker Elivia Wagner (Erie, Pa./McDowell) turned in 17 kills, seven digs, five blocks and two aces. Six players enjoyed at least four kills for Chatham.
 
Sophomore setter Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) dished out a contest-best 47 assists while contributing 23 digs and four kills.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) led the defense with 27 digs.
 
FRANCISCAN VICTORY: Lasher led the way with a match-high 16 kills (.282), 13 digs and four aces against the Barons.
 
Junior middle blocker Mckenzie Bonnett (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) floored eight kills while first-year outside hitter Katherine Remy (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario) enjoyed eight kills of her own.
 
Bates orchestrated the offense with 28 assists while first-year defensive specialist Makenah Zitko (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) enjoyed seven aces from behind the serving line and paced the back row with a match-best 21 digs.
