BETHANY, W.V. – Oct. 31, 2017 – In another epic five-set match – the second straight against Bethany – the visiting No. 6 seed Chatham University women's volleyball squad fell at the No. 3 seeded Bison 3-2 (16-25, 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 13-15) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
RECORDS: The Cougars end the year at 17-11 while the Bison move on to play No. 2 seed Westminster in the PAC Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at Thomas More. This was the first time in program history that Chatham played in the PAC Tournament.
FIVE-SET THRILLERS: For the sixth time this season, Chatham played in a five-set match.
LEADING THE ATTACK: Hitting .241 on the evening, sophomore outside hitter
Justyne Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) led the team with 17 kills.
Junior middle blocker Mckenzie Bonnett (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) enjoyed 12 kills (.400) while first-year middle hitter
Elivia Wagner (Erie, Pa./McDowell) floored eight executions, hitting at a .533 clip.
Sophomore outside
Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) tacked on six kills while juniors
Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) and
Katelyn Gonos (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) both tallied five kills apiece.
DISTRIBUTION LINE: Both sophomore setters Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) and
Brooke Petrillo (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) orchestrated the offense with 21 assists each.
BACK ROW PLAY: Lasher led the team with 21 digs while sophomore libero
Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) chipped in 18 digs. Brown and Bates followed with 15 and 10 digs, respectively.
AT THE NET: Wagner led the team with four total blocks while Bonnet contributed three. The Cougars forced 25 attacking errors by the Bison.
