Cougars Tie Golden Tornadoes, earn PAC Championship berth

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – OCTOBER 28th, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars and the Geneva Golden Tornadoes tied 0-0 after a double overtime in the final game of PAC regular season play.  
                                                     
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (11-5-1 overall, 5-3-1 PAC) Geneva (5-11-1 overall, 2-6-1 PAC)
  • Location: Reeves Field at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
 
How it happened
  • The Cougars outshot the Golden Tornadoes 25-7 but were unable to score.
  • Junior Kat Luteri (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) took five shots.
  • Junior Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison) tallied four shots.
  • Junior Cassandra Small (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) finished with three shots.
  • Chatham forced six corner kicks compared to Geneva's zero.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Ashley Bergman (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) played all 110 minutes in the net for the Cougars. She made three saves.
 
Postseason
  • Chatham earned the fourth seed in the PAC Championship Tournament for the second time in program history. The Cougars will travel to Thomas More to take on the #1 seed for the second year in a row. The game is at 2 pm on October 31st.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
