Cougars Take Down Tomcats 2-0

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – OCTOBER 25th, 2017 – Chatham defeated Thiel 2-0 this evening.

Senior Spotlight
  • #20 Morgan Stamm from Mt Holly Springs, PA escorted by her parents Heather and Jason Stamm. Morgan is graduating early in May with a degree in Media Arts. She played in 27 games during her time at Chatham and started seven. Morgan recorded 14 shots and one assist in her three seasons with the Cougars. Congratulations Morgan!
  • #10 Megan Sieg from Pittsburgh, PA escorted by her parents Mark and Mary Beth. Megan is the most accomplished player in Chatham program history and holds the record for most points, 90, and most goals, 36. She also recorded 18 assists and 216 shots. She has started every game played with the Cougars, 58. Megan has been recognized as one of the top twenty players in the PAC the past three seasons with two All-PAC Second team selections and one First Team selection in 2016. Let's hear it for Megan Sieg, congratulations!
 
How it happened
  • The Cougars outshot the Tomcats 18-7.
  • 15 of Chatham's shots were on goal.
  • First year Genna Zeswitz (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) scored off of a rebounded shot from junior Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison) at 39:08.
  • First year Kyla Kelley (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) scored the final goal for the Cougars off an assist from Zeswitz.
  • Chatham forced 10 corner kicks compared to Thiel's two.
  • Kelley led the team in shots with seven.
  • Bruening finished with three shots.  
 
In the goal
  • First Year Ashley Bergman (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was in the net for the Cougars. She earned her seventh career shutout. Bergman made six saves with zero goals against.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. The athletic program is housed on Chatham's historic and beautiful Shadyside Campus in the $18 million, 74,000 square foot Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC). Women's sports at Chatham include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track & field, and volleyball. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
