PITTSBURGH, PA. – Oct. 21, 2017 – In a match with huge playoff implications on the line, the Chatham University women's volleyball team enjoyed a 3-1 (25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23) win over visiting Grove City in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday.
POSTSEASON HUNT: With the win, the Cougars are now 6-9 in the PAC and tied with Grove City for the sixth and final spot in the playoff picture right now, with three regular season matches remaining for Chatham.
RECORDS: Chatham improves to 15-9, 6-9 PAC while the Wolverines fall to 9-17, 6-9 PAC.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars play at W&J on Tuesday, followed by a road match at Thiel on Thursday. Chatham hosts Saint Vincent on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 pm.
LEADING THE ATTACK: Sophomore outside hitter
Justyne Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) with 16 kills (.349) while providing the defense with 17 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter
Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) tallied 13 kills and 12 digs while junior middle blocker
Mckenzie Bonnett (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) enjoyed 10 kills (.421).
First-year middle
Elivia Wagner (Erie, Pa./McDowell) had a solid all-around match with eight kills (.375), six total blocks and four digs.
DISTRIBUTION LINE: Sophomore setter
Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) dished out 41 assists to lead the Cougar offense, while tacking on 16 digs on the defensive end.
BACK ROW PLAY: Sophomore libero
Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) notched 16 digs.
