PITTSBURGH, PA. – Oct. 16, 2017 – The Chatham University women's volleyball program battled back in another five-set match on Monday night, this time defeating visiting Thiel 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 18-16) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
FIVE-SET THRILLERS: The Cougars are now 4-1 in five-set matches this season, winning the past four long contests.
WINNING STREAK: With the win, Chatham has now won a season-high six straight matches.
RECORDS: Chatham improves to 13-8, 5-8 PAC while Thiel drops to 9-14, 3-9 PAC.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars remain at home, hosting Mount Aloysius and PAC opponent Westminster on Wednesday in a tri-match starting at 4 pm. The Tomcats host PAC foe Waynesburg on Wednesday.
LEADING THE ATTACK: Sophomore outside hitter
Justyne Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) tied her career high with 26 kills (.283), while notching a team-high 20 digs and providing the defense with four total blocks.
Junior middle blocker
Mckenzie Bonnett (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) chipped in 13 kills (.321) with seven total blocks while junior middle
Katelyn Gonos (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) contributed 12 kills (.385).
DISTRIBUTION LINE: Sophomore setter
Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) dished out a team-high 36 helpers while sophomore
Brooke Petrillo (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) distributed 13 assists off the bench.
BACK ROW PLAY: Pacing the back line with Lasher's 20 digs were Bates and sophomore libero
Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), who both tallied 19 digs.
