Cougars Extend Streak to Five, Shutout Hawks 2-0

Box Score MARLBOROGH, Ma – JANUARY 6th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars traveled to Becker College where they shutout the Hawks 2-0.

How it happened
  • The first goal of the game was scored at 19:14 in the second period. Senior McKenzie Haskins (Anchorage, Ala. / Team Alaska) made the shot with an assist from sophomore Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine / North Yarmouth Academy).
  • Sophomore Michelle Jones (Scarborough, ONT / Barrie Sharks PWHL) would score the second goal of the night late in the third period assisted by first year Holly Ackerman (East Rockaway, N.Y. / Brewster Academy) and sophomore Jillian Rowland (St. Louis, Mo. / Chicago Fury).
  • Chatham outshot Becker 32-23.
  • Junior Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y. / Buffalo Stars) led the Cougars in shots with seven.
  • Block and Rowland would each chip in five shots.
  • Chatham is on a five game winning streak.
 
In the goal
  • Junior goaltender Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, ONT / Thunder Bay Queens) was in the goal again for the Cougars. She made 23 saves to earn the shutout.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
