Cougars Edge Yellow Jackets, Win 78-69

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – JANUARY 5th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars took down the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets this evening 78-69 for their second PAC win of the season.   
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (7-4 overall, 2-3 PAC) Waynesburg (7-5 overall, 3-2 PAC)
  • Location: Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse at Waynesburg University.
 
Key Players
  • Sophomore Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) recorded the team high 25 points. She shot 75% from beyond the arc and 100% from the free throw line. Sieg added four rebounds as well.
  • Sophomore Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior) finished with 23 points. McClain went 6-6 from the free throw line and grabbed three rebounds.
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) shot 70% from the field and 100% from the free throw line to tally 16 points. She had three rebounds and four steals.
  • Senior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore Maggie Soeder (Shaler, Pa./Shaler) led the team in rebounds with six each.
 
Inside the numbers
  • The game would see eight lead changes and six ties. Five of those lead changes occurred in the fourth quarter.
  • Chatham trailed Waynesburg 43-37 at the half but would outscore the Yellow Jackets 41-26 in the final two quarters.
  • The Cougars forced 13 Yellow Jacket turnovers earning them 14 points.
  • Chatham would finish the game with their largest lead of the night.

  • Chatham will host the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson on Saturday January 7th at 1 pm. W&J is currently 8-4 overall and 5-0 PAC.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
