Chatham Falls to Buffalo State 9-3

Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – JANUARY 27TH, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars fell to the Buffalo State Bengals 9-3.   
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (5-12-1, 0-10-1 ECAC West) Buffalo State (12-5-1, 7-4 ECAC West)
  • Location: Alpha Ice Complex in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
How it happened
  • The Bengals would be the first on the board with two goals in the first period.
  • Michelle Jones would score her first goal of the evening at 13:38 assisted by Cassidy Calhoun and Kaitlyn Perrins.
  • In the second period, the Cougars would outscore Buffalo State 2-1.
  • Kristina Block would score at 17:13 on a power play assisted by Lyndsey Gallaway and Kaitlyn Perrins.
  • Jones would get her second goal at 19:12 with the assist from Cassidy Calhoun and Kaitlyn Perrins.
  • Heading into the final period Chatham was down one.
  • Buffalo State would dominate the third period scoring five unanswered goals to end the game.
  • Kasandra Petersen and Marissa Janiga led the Cougars in shots with six apiece.
  • Jillian Rowland would add five shots.
  • Erika Martin would win 15 faceoffs.  
 
In the goal
  • Sydney Isbell would start for the Cougars and play a total of 43:30 minutes before getting pulled in the final period. Isbell had 23 saves.
  • Tara Riley would total nine saves in 16:30 minutes of action.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
