Cougars Come Up Short Against Bearcats 68-58

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – JANUARY 21st, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars were defeated by the Saint Vincent Bearcats 68-58.  
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (9-7 overall, 4-6 PAC) Saint Vincent (10-7 overall, 7-3 PAC)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center at Chatham University.
 
Key Players
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) lead the Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Sieg went 2-3 from beyond the arc with three rebounds and three assists.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) and sophomore Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) each recorded 11 points.
  • Sieg earned a double-double with 11 rebounds as well. She went 5-6 from the free throw line and added five assists and three steals.
  • McClain went 7-8 at the line with three rebounds and two steals.
  • First Year Sierra Ungerman (North Hills, Pa./North Hills) totaled eight points, and ten rebounds. 
  • Senior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) chipped in ten rebounds and two assists. Hinkle went 4-4 from the free throw line.
 
Inside the numbers
  • The Cougars led the Bearcats at the end of the first three quarters but were outscored 18-7 in the final ten minutes.
  • The game was back and forth seeing 19 lead changes and seven tied scores.
  • Chatham outrebounded Saint Vincent 44-41.
  • The Cougars earned 17 points off of second chance shots.
  • The team scored 13 points off of 18 forced Bearcat turnovers.
  • Chatham went 19-22 from the free throw line.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
