Chatham Edges Thiel 66-65

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – JANUARY 14th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars edged the Thiel Tomcats in the final seconds 66-65 with help from guest coach Chatham President Dr. Finegold.    
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (8-7, 4-4 PAC) Thiel (7-6, 3-5 PAC)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center at Chatham University.
 
Key Players
  • Sophomore Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) led the Cougars in scoring with 14 points.
  • Sophomore Josh Randall (Mckees Rock, Pa./Montour) recorded nine points and two steals.
  • Sophomore Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic), sophomore Isaiah Brown (Scott, Ark./North Pulaski) and junior Reggie Rogers (Sweet Home, Ark./Wilbur D. Mills University Studies) each chipped in eight points.
  • Rogers added four assists and two steals.
  • Junior Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) tallied seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.
  • Sophomore Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) earned the team high eight rebounds, with six points, five assists and two steals. Bomar would have the final two points of the night for the Cougars on free throws pushing Chatham past Thiel with one second remaining.
 
Inside the numbers
  • The Cougars and Tomcats battled it out with 13 lead changes and seven tied scores.
  • Chatham would lead 41-33 at the half but Thiel would come back to outscore the Cougars 32-25 in the final 20 minutes.
  • The bench totaled 23 points for the team.
  • Chatham earned 21 points off of 16 forced Tomcat turnovers.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
