Schoppen leads Chatham to victory over Geneva

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – JANUARY 11th, 2016 – Number 11 led the Chatham Cougars to victory over the Geneva Golden Tornadoes 84-67.

  • Records: Chatham (7-7, 3-4 PAC) Geneva (6-8, 3-4 PAC)
  • Location: Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
 
Key Players
  • Sophomore Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) had a record setting night. Schoppen went 13-14 from the field and 11-12 from three point land. He finished with 37 points in 34 minutes of action. This impressive finish tied the 30 year old PAC record for most three pointers made in a game.
  • Sophomore Josh Randall (Mckees Rock, Pa./Montour) earned 17 points, shooting 64% from the field and 75% from beyond the arc.
  • Junior Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) led the team in rebounds with eight. He added 11 points and five assists.
  • Sophomore Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) chipped in eight points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals.     
 
Inside the numbers
  • Chatham gained control of the game early on in the first half and the Golden Tornadoes were unable to catch up.
  • The Cougars shot 73% from beyond the arc and 59% from the field.
  • Chatham earned 16 points off of 11 forced Geneva turnovers.
  • The bench would contribute 20 points.
  • The largest lead for the Cougars came with almost four minutes left in regulation when they were up 19.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
