Cougars Volleyball Team Defeated by La Roche College and Hiram College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA - September 2, 2016 - The Cougars Women's Volleyball team dropped two matches against the La Roche College Redhawks and the Hiram College Terriers tonight. They lost to the Redhawks 1-3 and the Terriers 0-3. The Cougars fell to the Redhawks and the Terriers in the La Roche College Tournament.
 
 The Cougars played against La Roche in the first match, winning set 1, 25-21 but fell short with the other three sets, 16-25, 25-27, 22-25. Chatham fought hard against La Roche both offensively and defensively, and it showed when the Cougars finished the match with 50 kills, 3 aces, 7 blocks, 40 assists, and 62 digs. Offensively First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittanning, PA / Armstrong) led the way with 21 kills. Defensively First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) got 15 digs, while Meggie Feliner got 5 blocks.   

The second match of the night was against the Hiram College Terriers who had a better overall game against the Cougars. Head Coach Dylan Lasher's team finished the night with 24 kills, 2 aces, and 39 digs. Justyne Lasher (Kittanning, PA / Armstrong) continued to lead the Cougars offensively ending the match with 10 kills.  Additionally, Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) led the Cougars defensively again with 11 digs. The Cougars supported each other as a team, which was apparent with First Year Brooke Petrillo's (Derry, PA / Derry Area) 12 assists and 6 digs.  
 
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow at the La Roche College tournament. Competing against Washington and Jefferson College and Oberlin College.
