Cougars Sweep Yellow Jackets

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - SEPTEMBER 27th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars are on a three game winning streak for the first time in school history after sweeping the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg is now the second conference win for the Cougars.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (2-3 PAC, 4-13 overall) Waynesburg (0-8 PAC, 1-14 overall)
  • Location: AFC at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa.  
 
On the court
  • The Cougars beat the Yellow Jackets with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-21.
  • As a team, Chatham posted 37 kills, 38 digs and seven aces.  
 
At the net
  • First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) tied her season high 21 kills this match. Lasher led the team with three service aces as well.
  • First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) chipped in six kills. Brown tallied one block.
  • First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) and Sophomore Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carlynton Jr/Sr HS) each contributed two service aces.
 
Assisting the attack
  • Bates finished with 17 assists.  
  • Brozenick added 10 assists.
 
Defending the court
  • Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway HS) led the backline with 11 digs.
  • Brown collected nine digs.  
 
Up next
  • The Cougars travel down the road to Carlow University on Thursday, September 29th at 7 pm when they take on the Celtics in a nonconference matchup.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
