Double Overtime Against Carlow Ends In A Draw

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - SEPTEMBER 26th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars dominated the game, but finished in a tie after a double overtime against the Carlow Celtics.

The Basics

How it happened

The Cougars dominated the field tonight but just couldn't quite finish. Chatham outshot Carlow 53-10. 23 of those shots were on goal.
Scoring first for the Cougars was Sophomore Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) assisted by First Year Maryah Robinson (Bracebridge, ONT/Bracebridge & Muskoka Lakes Secondary School).
80 minutes into the game, the Celtics scored their first goal to tie it up. Nine minutes later they would make a second goal with less than a minute left in the game.
Chatham answered back with just over 30 seconds left when First Year Kelsey Calamaro (Davie, Fla./The Sagemont School) scored her first goal of the season. Calamaro was assisted by First Year Victoria Vernail (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley HS). This goal pushed the game into overtime.
Chatham would take 14 shots in the double overtime, but the team was unable to hit the back of the net.
Senior Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville HS) took a career high 12 shots this evening.
Sophomore Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) recorded nine shots.
Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic HS) finished with eight shots.

In the goal

First Year Elayna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) started for the Cougars. The tough Cougar defense only allowed two shots on goal, both were saves.
Sophomore Emmory Tardivo (Isabella, Pa./Brownsville Area HS) played for the second half and both overtimes. She recorded one save with two goals against. Again, the Chatham defense kept Carlow from taking many shots.

The Cougars are back in action on October 1^st when they host the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College at 1 pm.
