Cougars Beat Franciscan & Pitt Greensburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa - SEPTEMBER 22nd, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars had a record breaking night. For the first time in school history, the volleyball team won back to back games. The Cougars beat both the Franciscan Barons and the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats.

On the court

Altogether, Chatham recorded 48 kills, 52 digs and two blocks.
The Cougars earned a season high 10 service aces.

At the net

First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) led the team with an impressive 20 kills. Lasher added three service aces and one block.
First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) finished with 12 kills and two service aces.
Sophomore Katelyn Gonos (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt HS) chipped in seven kills and one block.
Junior Iman Morgan (Sharon, Pa./Sharon HS) added two service aces as well as a block.

Assisting the attack

First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) was credited with 12 assists.
Sophomore Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carlynton Jr/Sr HS) grabbed eight assists.
Brown chipped in six assists.

Defending the court

Brown again led the team with 14 digs.
Bates dove for 12 digs.
Lasher rounded out the backline with nine digs.

Game 2 Chatham 3 Pitt Greensburg 0 (25-20, 25-15, 26-24)

On the court

The Cougars won with 39 kills, 64 digs and 10 blocks.

At the net

Lasher once again led Chatham with 14 kills.
Gonos finished with eight kills.
Lasher, Junior Rachel Kolar (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Mifflin Area HS), and Morgan led the team with blocks recording 3, 3, and 2 respectively.
First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway HS) earned two service aces.

Assisting the attack

Bates was credited with 20 assists for the team high.
Brozenick wasn't far behind finishing with 19 assists.

Defending the court

Lasher led the backline with 17 digs.
Stevens and Bates each added 11 apiece.

Up next

The Cougars are off this weekend but will return Tuesday, September 27^th when they host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at 7 pm in the AFC.
