Cougars earn first PAC win in Chatham History

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa - SEPTEMBER 21st, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars competed in a tri-match this evening against hosting team Waynesburg and Geneva. The Cougars recorded their first ever PAC win in Chatham history when they took down Waynesburg 3-0. This is Head Coach Dylan Lasher's first career win.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (1-13 overall, 1-4 PAC) Waynesburg (0-12 overall, 0-6 PAC) Geneva (8-5 overall, 3-1 PAC)
  • Location: Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pa.
 
Game 1: Chatham 3 Waynesburg 0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-16)    
 
On the court
  • Chatham finished with 36 kills, 45 digs and two blocks.
  • The Cougars recorded six service aces.
 
At the net
  • First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) had 15 kills for the team high. Lasher also recorded a service ace.
  • First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) finished with nine kills and two service aces.
  • First Year Brooke Petrillo (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) earned three kills and two service aces.
  • Getting the blocks for the Cougars were Junior Iman Morgan (Sharon, Pa./Sharon HS), Lasher and Brown.
 
Assisting the attack
  • First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) was credited with 13 assists.
  • Petrillo was close behind, chipping in 11 assists.
 
Defending the court
  • Brown led the team with 17 digs.
  • First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) finished with 11 digs.
 
Game 2: Geneva 3 Chatham 1 (25-19, 25-15, 25-27, 25-16)
 
On the court
  • As a team, Chatham recorded 31 kills, 55 digs and three blocks.
  • The Cougars finished with five service aces.
  • The team was able to beat Geneva in the third set, pushing it to four sets.
 
At the net
  • Lasher led the team with 18 kills. She also had two service aces.
  • Morgan, Lasher and Brown were all credited with a block.
  • Morgan had two service aces.
 
Assisting the attack
  • Bates recorded an outstanding 25 assists in the four sets.
 
Defending the court
  • Brown was an integral part of the backline earning 15 digs.
  • Lasher and Stevens each tallied 10 digs.
 
Coach's Comments
  • Head Coach Dylan Lasher said "The team is really coming together. The hard work, endless hours in the gym, and dedication to the program is really showing through the efforts of these young ladies. A very well earned first PAC win!" Congratulations to Coach Lasher and his team!

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
