Box Score STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - SEPTEMBER 17th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars shutout the Franciscan Barons 1-0.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (4-1-1 overall) Franciscan (3-3 overall)
  • Location: Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.  
 
How it happened
  • Sophomore Anne Radzanowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley HS) scored the game winning goal late in the second half. Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic HS) dribbled past the goalie and crossed it from the left of the box to the middle for the goal by Radzanowski.
  • The Cougars outshot the Barons 21-11.
  • Sophomore Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) led the team in shots with six, half of those on frame.
  • Sieg finished with four shots.
  • First Year Emily Nolan (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny HS) took three shots.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Elayna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars. She recorded seven saves and allowed zero goals.
 
Coach's Comments
  • Head Coach Betsy Warren said "It was a great team effort. I was really proud of how we came out in the second half and stepped up our game and dominated for the final 45 minutes."
 
Up next
  • Chatham is home for the next three games. First up, the Cougars host Penn State Altoona on September 21st at 4 pm for the Faculty and Staff Appreciation game.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
