Chatham Falls Short to Pitt Greensburg

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - SEPTEMBER 15th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars faced the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats in a non-conference match up this evening. The Bobcats swept the Cougars 3-0. Set scores were 25-20, 25-18, and 27-25.

How it happened
  • Chatham earned 29 kills, 33 digs and two blocks.
  • The Cougars recorded seven service aces.
 
At the net
  • Leading the team in kills were First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) and Sophomore Katelyn Gonos (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt HS) with 10 apiece.
  • Lasher led the team in aces as well with three.  
  • Junior Iman Morgan (Sharon, Pa./Sharon HS) earned two aces.
  • Morgan and Gonos each recorded one block.
 
Assisting the attack
  • First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) had a team high of six assists.
  • First Year Brooke Petrillo (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) and First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) both added five assists.
 
Defending the court
  • Stevens and Brown led the team in digs with seven and six respectively.
  • Lasher was not far behind with five digs.
 
Check it out
  • At the time of this article, Lasher is third in the conference for total kills this season with 109.
  • Stevens is fourth in the conference for total digs 150.
  • First Year Brooke Petrillo (Derry, Pa. / Derry Area) is seventh in the conference for service aces.

  • The Cougars next match is on September 17th when they travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky for a conference tri-match with Bethany and Thomas More. The first game starts at 1 pm.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
