Chatham Falls To Pioneers 6-1

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - FEBRUARY 6th, 2016 -- The Chatham University Women's Ice Hockey team suffered a 6-1 loss this afternoon on Senior Recognition Day to the Pioneers from Utica College. Chatham would drop both games this weekend, and now have an overall record of 6-13-1, and are 2-11-1 in the ECAC-West Conference.

It was Senior Recognition day for the Cougars, and Chatham would recognize 5 players before today's contest. The 5 seniors were; Forward Marie Soukup (Lake Bluff, Ill. / Team Illinois U19), Forward Erika Bronk (Fairport, N.Y. / Rochester Edge), Forward Kimberly Miller (North Reading, Mass. / Middlesex Islanders), Forward Katrina Hawkins (Powell River, BC / North Island Extreme), and Defensemen Karlee Kaufman (Mars, Pa. / Pitt Elite). The Chatham University Athletics Department would like to wish all 5 Seniors the best of luck as they move towards graduation this spring.

Utica would strike first this afternoon when they would score early in the first period, however Chatham would quickly tie things up when Junior Forward McKenzie Haskins (Anchorage, Ala. / Team Alaska) would find the back of the net. The Haskins goal would be assisted by Junior Forward Jenny Jones (Kernersville, N.C. / Anaheim Lady Ducks). The Cougars and Pioneers would be tied at 1 heading into the second period.

Utica would really break things open in the next two periods when they would score 2 more goals in the second period, followed by 3 more in the third. Chatham Goaltender Sophomore Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, ONT / Thunder Bay Queens) would face 66 shots this afternoon, and save 60 of them. The Cougars were out shot 66-30 in the game.

The Chatham University Women's Ice Hockey team will now be on the road to close out the 2015-2016 season. Chatham will travel to SUNY Potsdam next weekend (February 12th/13th), and then to Neumann the weekend of February 19th & 20th.
