Cougars Prevail Against Golden Tornadoes 82-67; PAC Tournament

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA. – FEBRUARY 22nd, 2016 -- The Chatham University Women's Basketball hosted the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes in the opening round of the 2015-16 PAC Tournament this evening. The Cougars took down the Golden Tornadoes 82-67. History was made tonight as this was the first PAC Tournament game Chatham has hosted since joining the PAC in 2007. This is the first PAC Tournament win for Coach Rectenwald and her team. The Cougars have not won a playoff game since 2010.

Four Cougars tonight scored in double figures to lead the team to victory. First Year Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) would score a team high 19 points. McClain would also have 4 rebounds and 3 assists. First Year Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Serra Catholic) finished the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. This is Sieg's first double double of the season. Senior Rachel McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) scored 12 points and had an impressive 8 assists. Junior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) would finish the game with a double double with 10 points and 10 assists. This is Hinkle's fifth double double of the season.

Once the Cougars took the lead early in the first period, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to catch up. At half time, the score was 38-32. Geneva would try to pull ahead by tying the score 3 separate times but could never take the lead. Chatham would go on to outscore Geneva 44-35 in the second half.

The Women will continue on to the quarterfinals when they travel to Waynesburg University to take on the number 3 seed Yellow Jackets. The game is set for Wednesday, February 24^th at 7 pm.
