Cougars Suffer Tough Loss at Westminster

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – DECEMBER 3RD, 2016 – The Chatham men's basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Westminster Titans, 77-53.  
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (2-4, 0-2 PAC) Westminster (4-2, 1-1 PAC)
  • Location: Buzz Ridl Gymnasium at Westminster College.
 
Key Players
  • Junior guard Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield Area) led the Cougars in scoring and rebounds with 12 points and seven rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa./Central Catholic) finished with nine points and three rebounds.
  • Sophomore point guard Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and first year point guard Brandon JaiJaiRam (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna) each chipped in six points. Bomar added four rebounds, five assists and four steals.    
 
Inside the numbers
  • The Cougars kept pace with the Titans in the first half, only behind by a basket at the half.
  • The first half saw 10 lead changes and five ties.
  • After taking a quick lead in the second half thanks to a three-pointer by Hunter and a field goal by Alexander, the Cougars weren't able to get another point for the next six minutes.
  • Chatham was outscored 47-25 in the second half.
  • The Cougars shot 90% from the free throw line.
  • The Cougars scored 13 points off of 10 forced Titan turnovers.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
