Chatham holds off PSU-Altoona 82-77

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – DECEMBER 18th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars used a late fourth quarter run to edge the Penn State Altoona Lions 82-77.   
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (5-3 overall, 1-2 PAC) Penn State Altoona (2-6 overall)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center at Chatham University.
 
Key Players
  • Leading the Cougars in scoring was sophomore guard Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg Area Senior HS) finishing with 19 points and five rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, PA/Serra Catholic) posted a double-double on the afternoon with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sieg added six assists as well.
  • Junior guard Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished with 11 points and two assists.
  • Sophomore forward Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) nearly had a double-double posting 10 points and 9 rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Natalie Knab (Altoona, PA/Altoona) did the majority of her work behind the arc, going 5-10 from three-point land, scoring 17 points.
 
Inside the numbers
  • After the first quarter Penn State Altoona led 23-17 and would lead 44-39 at the break. The Cougars were down 49-46 after 30 minutes of play.
  • Chatham's bench contributed nearly half the points scored with 38.
Up next
  • Chatham will be back on the court December 31st when they travel to Mount Aloysius for a non-conference match-up.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
