Chatham Tops Penn St Beaver

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – NOVEMBER 22nd, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars men's basketball team topped Penn State Beaver 71-60.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (2-2) Penn State Beaver (3-3)
  • Location: Athletics and Fitness Center at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
Key Players
  • Sophomore Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) finished with the team high 16 points. Schoppen went 6-9 from the field and 4-7 from beyond the arc. He also added in two steals.
  • Sophomore Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) recorded 13 points for the Cougars. Bomar led the team in assists with eight. He also chipped in seven rebounds and one steal.
  • Sophomore Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla. / Osceola) finished with 11 points and four rebounds.
  • Junior Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield Area) added 10 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
 
Inside the numbers
  • After taking a quick lead in the first few minutes, the Cougars would continue dominating the Lions. Chatham led 36-19 at the half.  
  • The Cougars scored 24 points off of 20 forced Lion turnovers.
  • The bench scored 17 points for the team.
 
Up next
  • The Cougars are back in action November 30th when they travel to Saint Vincent College to take on the Bearcats at 7:30 pm.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
