Cougars Compete in Semifinal Round of the PAC Championship Tournament

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – NOVEMBER 2nd, 2016 – The fourth seeded Chatham Cougars took on the #1 Thomas More Saints this afternoon in the semifinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament. The 2016 season has been record breaking for the Cougars. This is the first PAC Championship Tournament appearance in program history. The team earned the best record in program history this season as well. Congratulations Cougars for a great season! 
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (6-3 PAC, 11-5-2 overall) Thomas More (9-0 PAC, 19-0-1 overall)
  • Location: BBT Bank Field at Thomas More College in Crestview, Ky.       
 
How it happened
  • The Saints got a quick three goals in the first half and the Cougars were unable to recover.
  • Chatham was only able to take one shot at the Saint goalkeeper.
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had the sole shot on goal for the Cougars.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Elayna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) started for the Cougars.  She faced seven shots in her 45 minutes between the posts. 
  • Sophomore Emmory Tardivo (Isabella, Pa./Brownsville Area) came in for the last 45 minutes. She faced eight shots with one goal against.
  • The Chatham defense held Thomas More to one goal in the second half.

  • This match marked the final game for the 2016 PAC postseason for the Cougars.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
